Methane emissions soar as China booms
(Independent) The explosive growth of the Chinese economy over the past seven years has been linked with a rise in emissions of man-made methane, a study has found.

(Marketplace) British airline mogul Richard Branson shook up the industry last week after pledging $3 billion to fight global warming. He was in New York pushing his plan for airports. Branson says it could cut aviation pollution by 25 percent.
Clinton heaps praise on Blair but warns against complacency
(Independent) Bill Clinton paid a glowing tribute to Tony Blair's leadership yesterday but warned the Labour Party to be on its guard against having its achievements taken for granted. The former US president hailed Labour's "stunning" achievement in driving down unemployment and redistributing wealth in the UK. He said that the Blair government had provided world leadership by demonstrating that taking measures to reduce global warming could be good for a country's economy, as well as being morally right.
China, Wetlands Driving Global Warming
(Science Now) Some countries have been trying to reduce greenhouse gases emissions over the last decade, but a perfect storm of methane emissions may undo all the good work. According to a new study, the environmental threat posed by China's booming economy has been partially masked by a decline in natural methane emissions from wetlands.
Oil spikes, pandemics biggest threat to growth: WEF
(Reuters) Surging oil prices, a pandemic or extreme weather are more likely to spoil the world's best growth in a generation than snowballing economic imbalances, a World Economic Forum study group said on Wednesday.
